Thumbs up The Different Scent: "Old Traditional natur"

"Old Traditional" is a product line offered by my local shop, The Different Scent in Berlin. Jens, the owner, strives for perfection when designing the OT products, and this strop certainly is not an exception.

Feedback: The strop delivers lots of feedback, but there are strops that deliver just that little extra. Still, it should be enough for almost everybody.

    Speed
: The leather is very stiff, but slick, with just the right amount of draw. Stropping at high speeds is not a problem at all, quite the contrary.

    Durability
: This strop is made to last. It is hand sown instead of riveted, and the karabiner, apart from being a perfect design for a strop, is replaceable because "it will likely not outlast the strop".

    Portability
: When we introduced this category, we never came to a conclusion as to what portability actually is. Personally, I do not carry my strops around a lot, although they might make an interesting fashion item. If portability is the strop's ability to travel with you, this one is a winner. Although the leather is very stiff, you can roll it up for some time. It will bounce back into its original shape in no time.

    Size
: Overall length: 710 mm; stropping area: approx. 420 mm; width: 60 mm. Big, wide, and I personally think perfect.

    Craftsmanship
: Well, the strop is from Germany, and we know our ways around craftsmanship. A small detail: The handle is sealed with shellac. The rest of the strop has received equal amounts of loving attention to detail.

    Price
: A bit on the expensive side compared to TM or SRD strops. But given the product quality, and the amount of work that goes into it, I consider the price well justified.

Overall: A big, beautiful strop that delivers high value at a high price. Mine is a keeper in any case. To quote another happy owner: "The only strop you will ever need."

My German is rusty. Can this strop be ordered via an English-language site? Thanks!

I don't think so, but you can contact them via email (to the left: "KONTACT"). I don't speak German either but I managed ;-)

Do you live in the States ? In that case, be warned that the shipment cost is 33 EUR which is a lot of money (in fact I would refuse at that price).

Default I read a little german so I figgured I'd help a little

If your looking for strops go to the "ZUBHOR" there they are. it says "old traditional" in English so that's OK but be warned that these are around $167 plus if there's any taxes. That's with shipping and the exchange rate.
