    Default Strop Shopping

So I need a strop. I love the looks of Heirloom #1 Wide 3" Latigo Strop from http://shop.thewellshavedgentleman.c...2&categoryId=2 As a bonus I get a strop to practise without ruining the good strop. And I support the local economy. Not knowing when the goddess of the purse strings will favor me it seems smart to get two at one time. And later on I would have a strop for travel and one to leave at home.

This will be my first strop and in need of advice. What would you do?

    Get it.

No one here has ever complained about or regretted buying a tony miller strop.

And the practice strop apparently makes a good travel strop.

I have that strop and absolutely love it!! The other benefit to having the second strop is that you can learn and make mistakes on the second one while preserving the #1 once you've become comfortable stropping.

    It' a worthwhile purchase.

Good thinkin' hiker. The real test will be if you can keep your hands off the #1 long enough to gurantee you won't slice it.

I thought I'd be ok and ended up slashing the hell out of mine. I sanded most of the cuts out of it and there's still a useable section in the middle of it - but I'll get a replacement at some point at it's not ideal.

I agree - go with the Tony Miller strop - use the trainer until you're absolutely sure you've got it down pat......

......then keep using it for 2 more months before you go to the good one!

    (I sure wish that's what I'd done!)

I ordered the strops and the wait is killing me. Will the postman be delivering on Sundays? My wife said patience is a virtue. How much virtue do I really need?

Not picking on Tony Miller, just impatient.

Heh, heh. Monday is Presidents Day. No mail.

That always happens to me when I'm dying to get something cool.
