    Default Surrogate for strop

Hi guys, time to once again reveal my lack of understanding :P.
Is it possible to temporarily strop on a leather belt instead of a real strop without damaging the blade?

There are many things that will work in a pinch. A smooth leather belt, newspaper, your skin are just some.

At Hobby Lobby recently, I bought a belt blank for about $12. It was long enough that I cut it in two and made two medium length strops out of it. (I guess the belt was made for a jumbo sized man.)
