Thread: Ony one ready for testing?

Hello all good people,

Here is my new purchase story... quite recently I bought these two stropping belts but I haven`t used them yet. These are custom made stropping belts as per my request. Apparently this is full-grain leather impregnated. The smaller one is 23 in length and width 2 3/8 in. The second belt is woven the same length but is 3in. wide. I do not know whether it was good purchase but seller said they are stropping ready and he personally use the same leather. I am a beginner and not really know how to perform stropping correctly yet. My current strop has already few cuts. It is still learning curve...

Then I got an idea, that maybe someone on this forum will checked stropping capability and quality of new purchase strops. I am capable to send these both strop (or separate them to two different mentors) to one of our mentors so that he could to test it. Of course I will cover the costs of the shipping but only request I have that person is located close to the WA. Is there any mentor, who would like to check these strops?

They look great, what kind of leather you used?
Im sure there come up person that is located close to the WA.

Kalerolf in regards leather type I was told that this is"made of natural full grain bovine leather, vegetable tanned like "Yuft", impregnated in a natural beeswax". I hope it is right type of leather for stropping.

yes i think its the right type of leather for stropping.
I use now almost 2 years the same sort of leather and i am very pleased whit it.
Use it and have fun.

There is nothing about those strops that would in any way harm a razor. I would say just use them. If need be practice with a butter knife until you get the stroke down. The idea is to have smooth supple defect free leather. As long as you meet those criteria you're good to go. Whether you like the feel of them once you use them is another story.But that's a personal thing.

In this case I will continue learning curve on my old strop before switching to new one. Thank you!
