Thread: Strop peeling on one edge

    It could be you have a sharp place on the heal of your razor causing this, If it gets really bad try some light sand paper on it and reapply needs foot oil.

    I would suggest that the strop is not broken in and as pointed out, look at the heel of the razor. Another possible is putting to much weight on the razors heel at the start of the up stroke. Buff that area with your palm till it blends back in then do one set (up, down) and see if you get a hint of it reappearing and adjust your pressure for further sets. Don't be tempted to oil the strop, waste of time.

    I think everyone here has got you covered, BigbobbieK... PuFFaH's comment about not oiling the strop is spot on... just make sure you're rubbing the strop with your palm before stropping. The oils from your hand should help to condition the leather and make/keep it supple, which should help with the abrasion you're getting (assuming there's not some work to be done to the heel of the razor).
