    Default The beginnings of SAD??

I just got my SRD Red Latigo strop today to compliment my SRD English Bridle (Premium IV) strop. I wanted to go with a heavier draw for this one. Thing is, I eventually would like to try either a Premium I or a Premium II strop from SRD.

So, have I come down with SAD? And am I to understand there is no cure?? :P

I'm not sure a couple of strops constitutes SAD. How much time do you spend looking at strops and comparing the different brands? Do you spend hours and hours looking at vintage strops? What strop are you looking at next. I could develop SAD if my RAD din't already consume my disposable income.

You need at least 3 to 4 strops to qualify for SAD (models from various brands is another sign of SAD), and yes there is a technical cure...lack of funding.

Get yourself an SRD Premium II strop. You will not be disappointed. I have the II, III, and IV and favor the II.

I only have one strop so far. Am looking at Lynn/SRD's modular system, so I can try out different leathers without breaking the bank.

It seems like a really smart, smart system. You can try the Premium leather, and English bridle. Not sure what the "scrub leather" is used for?

Have also thought about a Maestro Livi loom, but pricier and have to do an international order (assume you don't have to pay VAT if shipping to US?).

Step 1: Admitting you have SAD.
Step 2: Accepting you have SAD.
Step 3: Aquire a new strop.

    FEED THE DISORDER!
    Keep it safe and Cheers,

The scrub leather is great for CrOx. As for the Livi loom strop, you don't have to pay VAT for sales to the U.S.

I would not mind a third strop as well as the rock hard wool strop from SRD for various pastes and sprays. I've also looked at Kanayamas, Tony Millers, and Walking Horse. But I keep going back to SRD. Granted, I like the replaceable leathers and fabrics. But the main reason I like to patronize SRD is not because they are the biggest supporter of this website. Rather their brick and mortar storefront, Imperial Shaving, is just shy of 1 hour away from my home. I am happy to support a local business that caters to my wetshaving needs. I just place my order,,specify in store pickup, and go get it. Now my last few orders were shipped because I didn't have the time to go there. But I still like going there and Don has taken plenty of time to answer any questions and offer his tips. And the store also smells good from all the scented products.

I probably would have ordered the rock hard wool strop. But I plan to order a Ralf Aust 6/8 Spanish point in the near future.
