First of all, welcome to the site!

You shouldnt really strop with it as is, just because the crease could damage the razors edge. It might be fine, but my gut feeling is to not do it..!

Fromm strop dressing rubbed in to the crease will help, and lay the strop on a flat surface and rub it with the side of a wine bottle to flatten the crease. When you rub with the bottle, be sure to avoid the seam which can scratch the leather.

If the crease isnt too bad, this should pretty much remove it, but if its a bad 'un it may only reduce it.

TBH though, I'd be tempted to message the seller to let them know that the strop was creased and send it back. You bought it as an uncreased strop, and now it has a crease in it due to the sellers shipping method. I dont think it should be down to you to sort out his mistakes really.

Its up to you of course, and if you want to try to get that crease out, thats the way I'd do it!

Good luck and keep us posted!

    Welcome to SRP
Good point Stubear. You shouldn't have to fix this.

I agree. When you bought it, you expected it to be in the condition that it was listed in. Those strops are expensive and very hard to get. Contact the seller and explain to him what happened and make an attempt to let him resolve the issue. If he doesn't then i would try what Stubear said BUT only after contacting the seller.

I agree with the above. He ruined it by the way he packed it so he needs to pay for the damage and refund your money. You did not bid on a creased strop, so why should you accept one?

    I agree send it back.

However if your stuck with it and it's severe there's the old but weights on it or use hanging weights and the nuclear option is soak it in water and then let it slowly dry but that method has consequences.

Hopefully, you'll be able to get a refund. I hope you haven't left feedback (positive or negative) for this seller yet as that might hamper your chances of getting a positive outcome. If you are stuck with the strop you could try the suggestions made by the previous posters. If those don't work, contact Tony Miller. I believe he has a stock of replacement leathers he holds for previous customers. He might be able to help you out with this.

Send it back to the ebay seller. If he balks at a refund open a Paypal dispute, NOT an ebay one. Ebay will drag it out forever, but the Paypal route settles things more quickly even though they are basically the same company now.

Describe it to Paypal as damaged by how it was packed, not buy the shipper. Once folded the strop is trashed and cannot be fixed correctly. Right now I have no latigo on hand to even make a replacement.

If you don't get satisfaction and in the end will be keeping the strop, Tony can probably tell you how to get the crease out.
