Thread: Paddle strop question

So I decided to try a paddle strop, just to try something new. I found a cheap 3" wide paddle strop at
12" XL Double Sided Paddle Strop

My only issue is that the description doesn't mention anything about razors, but by the looks and description it seems fine, my question is, does anyone know a reason as not to use a tool sharpening strop as opposed to a razor strop? All responses welcome

Looks like it would do the job just fine. I cannot attest to the vendors quality or service, but from what I can see in the pic and have read, there should be no problem.

Try it. It looks pretty good, at the very worst, you may have to flatten the leather if it isn't flat. If you get it and it's not flat, just flatten it with some sandpaper and a flat surface and you should be good to go

We may have different interpretations of "cheap," but you could make something like that for quite a bit cheaper than that. It's a board, a piece of leather, and some glue. If you don't have any tools, you might know someone who has toys that could bang this out in a few minutes.

finally got my paddle strop in the mail. Its nice!!! Smooth leather on one side, and a suede typ e on the reverse. Its about 12" of stropping space. 3" wide too, so it works perfectly. Highly recommended if you dont have the tools to make your own... or too lazy like me. Great price too!

Have you tried stropping on the suede side yet? Any results?

Haven't had a need as of yet, took the razor to my barbers hone first then a couple laps on my balsa wood with pastes and haven't needed the suede, but when I try it, I promise to post. Thanks for the interest
