Default SRD 3" Red Latigo Strop question

1 week new to straight razor shaving. No nicks or cuts yet, but I have a question on my strop. I just purchased this strop and it has a second matched webbing strop. Do I strop on that first @ 10 times and then go to the leather? What is it? Thanks in advance!

The poly webbing or second strop should be used the same as linen or cotton if you use a second strop. 10-20 stropping strokes prior to 40-60 stropping strokes on the leather should work fine. The back side of the webbing can also be used with chromium oxide paste for refreshing your razor when needed. 10 light X strokes there.

    Have fun.

Ok, I took Gary's advice and went 20 on the webbing and then 40 on the leather. I think I'm getting the hang of this. I started out on my first shave doing 10-15 on the leather only. What a difference 40 on the leather makes. I did a complete shave today and it took @ 30 minutes, but I walked away not bleeding. I have found out that the normal paths that I used when I used my cartridge razor blades are out the window. I basically have to re-train myself what I have done for the past 25 years. I could never go down on my neck, but with the straight razor, I can. I would love to see a "Straight Razor University" weekend that had seminars and hands-on sessions to help the "students." Food for thought. Thanks again for all the advice!!

Find a straight razor meeting in your area, we just had one in MO and it was great! Lots of shared talent for sure!

I like that idea, but I like the the idea of flying somewhere to really get the full experience and training of Straight Razor University. I can see the t-shirts now....hmmmm :-)
