Thread: Scrupleworks Mykleburst strop opions?

I have my eye on one of these strops and I just wanted to see if anyone here has a an opinion on this strop before I purchase.

Have a picture? I never heard of them.

I've never heard of it. Heck, I can't even say it!

I've had two, and now I have one. I'll take some pictures and upload them in a few minutes. The first was a black cow hide with a hard wool cloth component. I didn't care for it. At all. The other one has the same handle and linen/leather combination as the one Robin reviewed, here. The only difference is mine is stitched together, and that's a plus, IMHO. The leather is really thin, and stitching it with the linen the way he did probably helps prevent cupping, but I didn't ask him. It has a pretty heavy draw relative to my SRD Premium IV and the linen component is very nice (I don't recall any differences in the linen that Tony Miller uses, and I don't have one anymore to compare them, but they are very, very similar).

This is currently my second favorite strop behind the Premium IV, but it's really quite cool. The craftsmanship is impressive, and I really like the handle design.

If you get one, I'd love to hear your thoughts

They are for sale at superiorshave.They are not cheap and that is the reason I asking for opinions.Looks like I will have to buy on and report my thoughts on the strop.

While I don't have one he made from scratch I do have a strop that Torolf restored. The quality of his work is amazing and he has spent a lot of time getting to where he has with his strops. It is news to me that he is selling through Jarrod, but very cool that he now has an American distributer.

Well,honestly I think I may go after your favorite strop now.

I've had two of those (loved them both), and it's my daily go to. Just do a little palm-rubbing on it before use and in a couple of weeks, it'll be great. I also find the synthetic component to be quite effective.

I have one of his strops, it has become my favourite strop for daily use.
I stress "has become" because at first I had some trouble with the hard wool component (as Paul has said before me). However, with some continued use it has become less hard and it's a joy to use.

Torolf also sold me a refurbished paddle strop.

What really strikes me looking at his work (both what I have and what I've seen from others) is the incredible craftmanship and attention to detail.

In other words, you can't go wrong with one of his strops. Pity his site isn't online yet.

I have a 2" which I like a lot, nice draw, but not overly heavy, and the natural linen is great. I prefer a 2.5" strop, so I just ordered a second Scrupleworks strop, will be in my hands in a day or two...
The 2.5 will have the worsted wool second strop. Takes a while to break in, according to him.
