Default Stores that sell chromium oxide paste?

I inherited an old strop that's in decent condition and I think I can rehab it. But I would like to use it as a pasted strop. I know I can order chromium oxide paste from anywhere, but I'm loathe to pay shipping if I don't have to. Do any stores typically carry it? I checked at the local lowes or home depot to no avail.

You can often pick up CrOx powder from pottery supplies shops - that is where I got mine. They use if for green glazes, apparently.

I picked up a stick of CrO from straightrazordesigns.com
That stick will last med years, and was only a few bucks.
    Good stuff!

Oh really? I had not heard that. Well, I never use it anyway. If anyone wants 1 pound of sub-par CrOx powder, you know where to find me.

Lapidary shops sell the stuff in large blocks but it's not pure. Also artist supply sell it also as pigment but I don't know what else is in it.

Why bother, thesuperiorshave.com has free shipping on everything. I buy from them everytime I can.

If you live near a Woodcraft store, they sometimes carry chrome ox paste as well.
