Default Dovo strops - any good?

I won a Dovo razor and strop on ebay earlier, hopefully it will be delivered by the weekend, I bought it as its described as never used and I believe the razor is a Prima Silver Steel not what it was described as.

The strop appears to be a canvas backed, is it worth using or keeping as a travel strop or are they rubbish?

I've never used one of the Dovo stops but I've heard they are pretty good. Not top notch but good. Would probably make a good travel or pasted strop if you have something better at home

They are good quality. I have a similar tiny leather-only pasted with and black Dovo paste.

I think the Dovos and the jemicos are the same. I had a jemico Russian and it was a high quality strop.

I think thebigspedur is correct in this matter. From what I have seen, the only difference between the strops is the branding. I would go for the Jemico-branded strops due to the much lower price.

I have the exact same razor and strop. The strop works really well for me. It is my first razor and strop so I can't compare to anything else, but definitely gets me a great shave every time.

I had a Dovo and a Jemico. Very good strops. NICE pull! Identical products undoubtedly made by the same firm. I sold them to friends to get them shaving, but I would own another. Best cheap strop out there, better than some more expensive ones IMHO.

The strop is a bit small but of excellent quality.
    I use it a lot.
Do not paste it, use it as a leather strop. Very smooth leather surface.
