    Default "Alternative Strop"

I posted this on an edged weapon website recently, but I'm hoping y'all will appreciate it.
    It was taken in 1915 at Gallipoli....Never doubt a Gurkha's toughness !!
This is the newspaper's caption....My comments in brackets !!

That gentleman must have the supreme confidence of very thick callouses! I have a feeling that if I tried it, you'd be calling me "Lefty!"

Are we sure he isn't using a barbers hone? I'm not trying to discount that chap's manliness, but I just want to cover all the bases before I go accepting what's in front of me.
It's just corn syrup... Warm, blood flavored, corn syrup ...

Nothing special about it, it works fine.
I usually strop on my hand in between different stones to get the false edge of, you can sometimes feel it coming off in you palm.
You can even use the palm as a pasted stop if you put some slurry on it.
In Iwasakis paper on honing he suggest stropping on your palm too.

That's nothing. Where I come from they strop using their tongue.
Every day without fail one should consider himself as dead-Tsunetomo
