Default New Vendor and Straights for Sale

I'd like to introduce myself as a new vendor here on SRP. My name is Joe and I've been restoring razors for almost 2 years now. Seems time for me to enter this corner and start to sell some straights.

I'm working on a website right now as a one stop shop for straights. I will also be offering honing and restoration services through my website, but want to hold off on those details until I have my site up. Hopefully in a couple weeks I'll have it up and running and all details of my services will be laid out there.

In the meantime, I will be selling straights out of this thread until the site is up. I will keep this thread updated with new straights and which ones are sold, so keep checking

    So........

To start off with I hone all my straights with 1 layer of electrical tape over the spine and they are finished on either a coticule, Y/G Escher, or Ozuku Asagi. Every straight I sell is shave ready and I strive for complete customer satisfaction. If there is ever an issue with a purchase, let me know and we will work something out.

All my prices include CONUS shipping. Int'l customers add $2 for first class shipping or $14 if you want tracking.

So let's start with the offerings.....

If you would like to purchase a razor shoot me a PM and I'll direct you to paypal.

    1) ****SOLD***** 5/8 Silver King USA Full Hollow -

Nice little blade here that would make a good beginners blade. Razor in great shape with a couple superficial micropits, but nothing that prevents this razor from taking a nice edge.

Scales are plastic. Razor sits tight in the pivot and centers well. Asking $40

    2) 5/8 Geo Wostenholm Pipe razor 1/4 Hollow -

Razor is in very good condition and cleaned to a mirror throughout. Couple superficial micropits on the back, but overall nothing major at all. Slight toe heavy hone wear.

Scales are Bakelite with a lead wedge. Razor sits tight in the pivot and centers well. Asking $50

    3) 11/16 Boker 1/4 hollow -

Razor is in great shape and cleaned up to a mirror finish. Couple minor specks of superficial micropits, but nothing major and mostly confined on the tang. Boker quality speaks for itself. Some sort of small blade etch down near the heel on the front. Looks like a flag and bridge, but hard to say for sure.

Scales are white plastic and in good shape. There are a couple minor surface cracks on the back scale near the pivot pin, but I had this razor un-pinned and they certainly are confined to the surface. Should never be an issue. Razor sits tight in the pivot and centers well. Asking $55

    4) 11/16 The Diamond Razor Boston 1/2 Hollow -

Nice American blade here and in great overall shape. Nice deep blade etch and tang stamp and the razor is cleaned throughout to a satin mirror finish. No real other issues with it.

Scales are bone and in good shape. Small microchip on the top back scale towards the wedge pin side, but nothing major. Razor sits tight in the pivot and centers well. Asking $45

    5) 7/8 Robuso Solingen Full Hollow -

This is a very high quality blade from Solingen. There was originally gold etch, but several spots of rust in it so I made the decision to remove the etch and clean these out. A faint etch remains. Some minor specks of superficial micropits scattered, but overall in great shape. Ignore the streak on the front of the blade as that was a remnant from polish and is now wiped off. This takes an edge that would rival any Puma, etc.

Scales are white celluloid. Razor sits tight in the pivot and opens and closes with ease. some slight warp in the scales, but nothing to be concerned with. Asking $85

    6) 11/16 Geneva Cutlery Worked Spine 1/2 hollow -

Never seen a worked spine Geneva/Genco before. This one is in great shape and cleaned to a mirror finish. A minor spot of superficial micropitting towards the toe and up near the spine on both sides, but that is really it. Great shape all around.

Scales are bakelite. Razor sits tight in the pivot and centers well. Asking $60

    7) 13/16 Modeso (Dorko) full Hollow -

Modeso is a high quality german blade made by Dorko. This one had some rust spots on the front of the blade, but I didn't want to remove the gold wash to remove them. The rusting was neutralized with phosphoric acid so there is no longer any active rust that can spread, thus preserving the blade etch. This left some minor micropits on the front, but nothing that interferes with the blade taking a nice edge. The rest of the blade is cleaned to a satin mirror finish leaving only a few specks of superficial micropits. These are great blades.

Scales are original with inlay and the blade sits tight in the pivot and centers well. Asking $95

    8) *****SOLD****** 13/16 Japanese Frameback

This razor was never used prior to me. It has been cleaned up and there are some scattered micropits from years of sitting, but nothing major or anything that can affect the edge. Very good shape.

The scales are plastic. There is a slight burn mark on the bottom of the scale near the pivot that you should be aware of (see pics). Nothing that would ever affect this razor, but worth mentioning. The razor sits tight in the pivot and closes slightly off-center towards the front scale, but clears everything with ease. Asking $65

    9) 13/16 Konig Japanese Full Hollow -

Razor was NOS on arrival, but contained a few light rust marks that have been cleaned up. Couple very minor pit marks left from these, but nothing major at all. This razor is in great to excellent shape.

Scales are plastic and the razor sits tight in the pivot and centers well. Comes with original coffin box in excellent shape (not pictured). Asking $95

    10) ****SOLD***** 9/16 JA Henckels 3/4 hollow -

Razor is cleaned to a mirror condition. Some slight pitting on the back of the blade and tang, but nothing that gets near the bevel. Henckels are great razors and this is no exception for it's edge.

Scales are plastic and the razor sits tight in the pivot and centers. Would make a nice starter razor. Asking $40

    11) ******SOLD******** 11/16 Friedr Baurmann Solingen "Safacto" 1/2 hollow -

Another very good solingen manufacturer. This one is cleaned to a mirror finish and in great shape. A couple superficial micropits throughout, mainly on the tang, but nothing major at all. Would make a nice intro straight.

Scales are faux ivory celluloid. Razor sits tight in the pivot and center well. Asking $50

    12) *****SOLD******* 11/16 No name Sheffield or French near wedge -

This one had no makers mark on it, but I believe it to be french or sheffield origin. Razor is cleaned to a satin mirror, but does contain some minor pitting. Shoulderless grind with a thumb and barbers notch. She's not the most sightly one, but takes a great edge and would be suited for a beginner. Ignore the smudge on the back of the blade as that was just some left over polish that apparently I didn't wipe off before taking a photo.

Scales are horn with a couple chips in them, though not bad enough to replace. Razor does sits tight in the pivot, but closes close to the back scale so it is best to guide in. Asking $35

    13) ******SOLD****** 7/8 John Meyers Sheffield VR reign -

This is quite the oldie. It is stamped with the VR reign meaning it relates to Victoria's reign starting in 1837. I would think it dates to the 1850-1860 range based on the blade profile. This one has a big smiling edge and comfortable thumbnotch. It is cleaned throughout to a satin mirror finish and contains very little pitting - mostly on the tang. I call this one the silent assassin as it just mows through whiskers without a sound.

Scale are horn and in good shape for the age. A tiny chip on the front scale near the pivot, but nowhere near enough to ever be an issue. The razor sits tight in the pivot and centers well. Asking $90

Check back for more razors until I get my site up, but hopefully that will be up shortly.

Good luck on the venture. Out of curiosity, why are you posting these here and not in the Classified section?

Keeps it all in one place. Plus it makes those lurkers out there have to join the forum and hopefully contribute to send me a PM instead of just buying off the classifieds

I've not tasted Joe's edges yet, but the only input I've had on them was qutie positive. I expect his customers will be well pleased.

*****SOLD***** 5/8 FW Engels Special -

Measures a hair under 5/8 (0.61" or so). There are a few cosmetic issues that can be clearly seen in the photos, but nothing major or anything that could affect the edge. Razor is cleaned throughout to a mirror. Tang has been reblued as original. Scales are celluloid with bolsters. Top of front bolster near pivot is a little loose, but nothing major (just easy to snag clothing, etc. on). Some scratches on the scales that I couldn't get out. Razor sits tight in the pivot and centers well. Asking $68

Made by EJ Jahn Detroit. Razor in great shape and cleaned throughout to a mirror finish. Very few cosmetic blemishes overall and can clearly be seen in the pictures. Scales are bakelite and the razor sits tight in the pivot and closes centered. Takes a very nice edge. American razors represent great value in my opinion for great straights. Asking $50
