Each year, Kanayama tries to find something special to do at the end of the year; usually it's a Christmas/Winter sale. This year, however, we have something very special coming on November 21st, 2011.

When we introduced the Signature Series strops, we were only able to release these wider versions of our strops up to the 60000 model. The incredibly rare leather used for our highest end strops, the 7-8-90000 models, simply was not available in a size that would allow that extra width.

However, our master stropmaker apparently had a secret...he's been contacting tanneries all over the world (in Argentina, Japan, France and Spain, among others) searching for leather that would suffice. Apparently his search has had some success.

He has come up with a small quantity of leather he feels meets his very high standards for these strops, with enough material to allow the creation of wider versions of our top models.

Beginning November 21st, we can make these strops available to you. There is, however, a catch. This leather is rare. Naomi-san told me in his 60 or so years of strop making, he's never seen it's equal...and he might never again. So once these strops are sold, there will not be another run made. We have enough leather for 15 of the 95000 strops, and 5 of the 85000.

These are the very definition of limited edition. To celebrate these strops, each one will be numbered and signed on the back, and will be sent with a note of gratitude and verificationfrom the maker, hand signed and sealed.

That is not, as they say, all. From November 21st to December 21st, we will also be offering 10% off all our NOS razors, and if purchased with any strop those razors will get an additional 5%discount, for a total 15% off the price of the razor.

tl;dr Beginning November 21st, Kanayama will be offering limited edition 72mm wide 85000 and 95000 strops, and a 1-month discount on all our razors.

Bob, what do you mean? These will have the horsehide in the same width as the smooth cordovan, but the linen will be the same as Kanayama hasn't been able to source anything wider.

Finally I have samples for pictures...what lovely strops these!

I have had some questions about pre-orders. Yes, if you'd like to reserve one we can do that, but we won't be accepting payment until the 21st.

Also, prices have been set! The 95000 is 30,000 JPY (not including shipping). The 85000 is 26,400 JPY.

Will these strops remove less metal than other leather strops? Can you provide examples with a candle?

Gentlemen, the response this time has been amazing, thank you so much! I know that things are rough for a great many people this year, making our gratitude all the greater.

A small announcement: we are now out of the Hashimoto razors, and the bonus 3/8 and 2/8 razors are gone.

I'll be puttng up some more razors in the next few days, so please keep an eye out. And don't forget, a few of the very limited 95000 and 85000 strops are still available.
