Thread: wow...AMAZING shaving video!!!!!

That's a great vid! The guy got a shave. Full stop. It's not how we might do it, or recommend doing it, but clearly that works for him.

Shaving really is a simple concept - take something sharp and scrape it over your face to remove hair. The rest is just bells and whistles. I like this video because it really does highlight that fact.

As for the new straight user issue - that's a fair call I think. Just like it's a fair call to warn a learner driver not to watch formula 1 and think that's how you drive a car.

Its been said by brush makers that boiling water is NOT recommended for the brush, that it could melt the glue used to keep the knot attached to the handle therefore destroying your brush, even though our german friend here uses it with out any trouble i wont try it...i think hot water is more than enough.
But please,for the sake of research if anyone tries to boil their brush and uses it please post your experiences.

That's great! I'm going to try that tomorrow morning. If you never hear from me again then at least know I lived my life without having to regret not trying this

[Edit: I'm not going to try to act like time only affects me half as much as it does other people though (like the guy in the video did.) That could be really dangerous]

Why are we assuming that the water was boiling????
This could be a "Cold Water" flat and he just warmed up the water....
Basically the rule I have always gone by, is if the water is to hot for my hands, it is to hot to shave with....
I looked 3 times at the stropping part and I almost am believing that the strop is Linen/Cotton/Canvas....
Other than that, this guy obviously has been doing this the same way since he started shaving, and has mapped his face many years ago.....

I just place the tip of the brush in the boiling water. It's a brand new brush, it hasn't looked any worse for the wear. I've done it probably 4 or 5 times. Since I moved the kettle and hot plate into the bathroom.

I will concede.... he did look happy

It could be, because the pot looked like it was simmering and the guy also said it was hot.

LOL yea, just need an H in front, to get the sound of the word.

I now have a new button hole in the seat of my chair after having watched this guy whip that blade around and listening to the grating.
