If you pay for shipping both ways send it my way and I can re-grind the toe for you. You can do a French/irish point, half round or even straight end. Personally I'd go for a French/Irish point. Take a black marker, draw several toe options and see what looks best.

I like the idea of marking different options.

My first reaction was a round point but with the decorated spine the French/Irish point might blend everything together better.

    Good go, Max!

Am thinking of also lowering the spine deco. Make it like a 'dropped spine'.
    Maybe even a flat one.

Starting the point in the midst of those scallops......Meh.

Never liked scallops on a spine.

OTOH, dropped razors got me into restoration

What an offer! I would already have that baby packed up and sent to Max to save it for you.

I have sent a PM to Max to discuss. I REALLY appreciate everyone's input on this sad occasion!

I traced two options for the repair.

    Option 1:
    Name: IMG_3897.jpg

Size: 32.2 KB

    Option 2:
    Name: IMG_3898.jpg
Views: 63
Size: 29.6 KB

I like Option 2 better as it looks more like what it was, French point, which I loved!

Do this, and if you're not sure about what tip to go with let him use his best judgement. You won't have to spend a lot of time slowly shaping it or putting it on your own grinder and risk further damage or messing with the temper.

    Nice offer Maximilian!

EDIT: I see you took his offer already.

NO! That's just chopping it off!

Get fancy. Set that quarter on the end and move it around....
Get it so as you begin your curve around the quarter you begin at the lowest part of the scallop and end where the 'edge' ends at this point. Draw the curved line around the quarter.
    There!
