Thread: half moon in blade - HELP

Anybody up for a regrind? Me and my blade had a nasty run in with the towel rack that my strop is attached to, and well now I have a small half moon notch in the business end of my shaver.

Please help. This is my one and only (thusfar), so I'm going to look like Grizzly Adams...or have to go back to my safety razor for the time being.

How far does the damage extend from the edge? What is the size and grind of the of the razor? Seriously, are you ever going to do this to another razor? Now you know why some of us have a "few" more than one razor. As Nun2sharp said, a picture would really help.

Yeah, definitely not intending on doing this one again...but didn't in the first place either.

I've attached the image, as best I could get it. Second look, not nearly as bad as I remembered it in my mind, but still need to get it corrected.

By your initial description I was expecting worse. That should be no problem at all to fix.

I wouldn't even call it a regrind, it just needs some laps on a coarse stone.

You should be fine...looks more like a hone job than a regrind to me... any of the honemeisters can take that out no problem, at least from what I can see.

I have taken out worse on the cutting edge.

Just as a reference for others reading this thread, any chip that is contained inside the bevel can normally be taken out, the notable exception would be if there is a crack along with a chip...
