Thread: Desired distance between spacer and blade?

Hi folks!
Whats the desired distance between the spacer and the blade on a closed razor?
I personally find the shorter the better.
Could there be reasons why there is often more than a 12 millimeters or more?

*sorry, this poll and the discussion being in metric (millimeter) increments, since the space is really small.

I like them as close as possible. The tolerances are smaller but it looks better.

The only reason I see for a big space is that someone is using a "standard" length scales for a shorter blade.

I tend to agree.
Personally I aim for for the <3mm range, others like a little more. Whatever the distance may be, it should be intentional.

Yeppers I agree with Dan d Man the 3mm mark is about what I go after too, or for us metrically challenged Yanks about 1/8 inch
