Default First cut is the deepest........I hope.

I've restored and rescaled a number of razors the last year and at some point it had to happen

Last week I got a 13/16 Alcoso that needed some work, and while doing the last sanding with 2K paper it happened, I held the razor firmly with my left hand while putting a little extra pressure with my right thumb to remove the last marks on the spine, my thumb slipped and God knows how, but the blade hit my thumb and sliced of a decent piece of it, bled like he**

And before you ask, yes I dulled the blade by running it over the edge of a glass before I started working on it, I don't even wanna think of how the cut would have been if I didn't.

I patched myself together and finished up the razor, pics of the finished sinner...ehh razor will be posted tomorrow.

I have done it too. Hurts like heck huh? Maybe look up how to build a sanding jig. I haven't built one yet, but a lot of guys swear by them.

Didn't feel a thing actually, it's stinging a little now but that's all.

I do have jigs, one with a magnet where I can place the blade flat on the side, and one with a "slot" I can place the blade in while working on the spine/back.

I was "just" going to do a little finishing so I didn't bother using it.

One learn frome ones mistakes, or at least should....

Ah, the thrill of CQC with a grooming device....

Sorry my friend, I figure such injuries go with the territory.

Be sure to wash and desinfect properly first. You don't want to glue dirt inside the wound where it will fester.
With cuts like this, the best thing is to desinfect and apply a bandaid. Usually the wound will grow shut rapidly if the cut was a sharp one.
And that way, if there is residual dirt, it can come out freely.

I'm okay with gluing a straight cut to hold the skin together, problem here is that I have cut off a 10x5mm and 2-3mm deep piece so gluing it would mean to fill the cut with clue, not too happy with that

Hopefully it will close up in a couple days, these cuts usually needs a little more time to heal. Just another scar to the collection
