Thread: First complete teardown (Boker)

I've only been into straights for a short time but from the get go I wanted a Boker due to my fondness of their pocket and other knives. I picked this one up on eBay, received it in the mail today, and immediately started polishing on it. These are my first pics of my new jewel. The auction said faux deer antler but they appear to be some type of real horn just by looking at the grain on the inside of them after I took them apart so I'm gonna try to soak them in neatsfoot oil and see how they turn out.

What have you done to the blade? Have you sanded it? Used Maas? Details man....we always want the details!

It was actually in pretty good shape. So far I've just polished on the blade with a buffing wheel on a bench grinder and red then white compound. It's actually about good enough for my liking since I plan on using/collecting and not reselling it. There are still some small pitted spots but I didn't want to take any more metal off than I have to. I soaked the scales in neatsfoot overnight and they've turned out good as well. Now I just need to order some pins to put it all back together and attempt to hone it.
