Thread: Pins flush wih scales..

I just received this razor today a Bellefontaine to find out that the pins are flush with the scales... never seen it before..

anyone has an idea of the best way to unpin this razor? I usually use a dremel method but I am thinking in this case the drill press method would work good.

Also the blade has a nice gold wash with minimal pitting, what would then be the best way to polish it and preserve the gold wash?

It is brass

There are several ways to depin that razor, my preferences would be,

• Small burr in dremel type tool
• center punch and pinvise
• drill press with small center drill
• jewelers saw from the inside on the blade end

You are going to have to take that one really slow, it might very well be glued too... Can you give us a pic of the entire set of scales??? Do they look to be original???? what are the scales made of???

I think the scales are made out of horn or wood but I am not sure ... I dont have a lot of exp as you can see
