Thread: Questions before restoring....

Gentlemen,

I have been a stalker of the valuable information within these forums and have been extremely impressed with the members knowledge in responding to questions. I'm relatively new to this world, but am thoroughly enjoying it. Recently, I picked up a couple blades at a local market for cheap - $20 for the pair - with the hopes of trying my hand at a little restoration project. I know the one is a G. Johnson (equipped with the antique hammer and 7 stars) and the other is a Buchholz and Maus "blue steel" that is labeled Pittsburgh PA M.i. Germany. I've been able to find the out some general information online, but was hoping the expertise here could further that - particularly whether these are junk and not worth the time in restoring. Thanks

Yes i think its worth the time of restoring.

Of course its entirely up to you, but I have a "Blue Steel" and they take a very nice edge and that one looks to be in good condition.

The blue steel looks like it will be a nice razor. The other looks like it may have had its day, not much blade left. That being said, hone it up and see how it performs.
