Can a edge 'ding' be repaired?
I have a blue ring razor by Utica cutlery, and initially what I thought was a chip along the edge of the blade, is actually a slight ding/dent. Can this be taken out? I'm thinking it can, but I'm also thinking cracks happen when you attempt this? Any thoughts or tips on this?
Thanks
Aaron

Yes they can, carefully
As you pointed out if you "Just Hone it out" you can flex the edge and run a crack... If the edge is heavy enough it doesn't matter but the extreme hollows like many of the Utica's are, can tear in a heartbeat...

Glenn, being as I have two of these Blue Rings, I might save this bade for your attempt at repair in the future and just focus on the other one for now.
Thanks
Aaron
PS my bad....not a Utica, it's a Union Cuterly Co, Olean N.Y.

The First Cut is the Deepest!
I have had success straightening a ding. And I have had a failure. In baseball, batting 500 would make me rich! In Razor World, that makes me sad!
