    Default Imitation Polyester Pearl

Does anyone have any experience using this material to make scales?

    Masecraft USA: Polyester Imitation Pearl Sheets 1/4" x 4 1/2" x 5" per piece

I couldn't find any information on its handling properties. I don't know what makes me think this, but I have a feeling it would not be a very forgiving material.

That is to short for scales at 5 inches but if they can get it in 6 inch then it might work

Duh, I didn't notice that. I was obsessing more about the 1/4" thick I'll call them in the a.m. and see if it comes in any other sizes. Thanks Glen!

I have seen these in their store. Not a bad material. Its just a really hard glittery plastic. It should sand pretty easy and make a hell of a mess in the process. I have seen people use these for knife scales and pistol grips with nice results. I have made resin like that myself using clear epoxy resin and a few drops of my fiancee's nailpolish. **Use a little more hardener or the resin will be flimsy and bendy**
