Yes, Tennessee and in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I hike this ten mile loop every Sunday. Its the first bear I've seen on the trail.

It's against the law to kill any snake here in TN so I want say on my daily walk I killed a timber rattler a little over 60 inches long with 11 rattles. I also want say that since I built my home have dispatched 7 of the critters and too many copper heads to mention. Stepped on 2. In my younger days I squirrel hunted the forked deer river bottom in Gibson Co. TN and ran across (shot) many cotton mouths. some as big as my arm. Now I want tell any of this on myself. Yes there are critters out there and some will do harm.

These were good little fellas that darted out of my garage last Friday...there were 8 total, I caught four initially, and then the 5th on was hiding on me. I just put em in a bush next to my house where they belong...not in the garage.
Little bastards ruined my weekend, because my wife decided it was time to remove EVERYTHING from the garage in order to clean out and organize...oh well...needed to be done I suppose!

Cooked some burgers and hot dogs on the grill this evening, and this bugger crawled around the back and was reaching for something that must have fallen through...once he snagged it, he hoped up and started chowing down!
Ha! The kids love him, so I guess he can’t hang around for now.

They have such a small mouth that it’s unlikely it will bite you. You would Almost have to put your little finger up next to it for it to be able to bite. If it does though yes a trip to the hospital.
