First purchase questions

I question whether I have a question or not.
So if I understand the price difference with other silvertip from other brands like Plisson for example they offer around 200 euros. So it's due to the quality of the handle and you also pay for the brand name?

In my experience, if a company provides a quality product, they will continue for years. One that does not, won't. That said, all major brands selling silvertip badger get their badger hair from the same animal. The key is who puts it together better and what is the price. To answer you immediate question, yes you pay for the brand, the quality, and materials. I preferred horn, but any number of materials are ok. I recommend you find a specific brush and ask for reviews. I really think any of the top brands would be fine, but that is not to discount someone who produces a quality product but does not have history or name recognition. You have posted some photo. Silvertip badger has a specific pattern and look. Examine all the silvertip brushes from named suppliers and I think you will see the similarities. I can speak to other grades of badger hair brushes because I always bought silvertip. I would bet the lower grades would still work just fine. I have two shavemacs and a vulfix. All are superb. I'm not sure my ramblings help, but just a point of view.

This brush has no particular model name or even a reference. But according to you, from the quality of Muhle's manufacturing, the hairs used, the handle material used, for the price it's hard to get better I'm wrong ? I initially wanted to go to Plisson but if I want the same composition of hairs, I'll have to pay twice the price it seems to me.

Bottom line. You'll probably be fine. I used a boar bristle brush before and it worked, just not as good as the finer brushes. Surely you could return it if you are not satisfied. If you can, go for it! I wouldn't spit for the difference between the two brands. I'd just make sure you can return it if not satisfied. Cheers!

You will also find a number of opinions about how to use, care, and dry a brush. For the last ten or so years I have used the Shavemac, I rinsed it and set sideways on the Irish Quaich that holds the soap and let it dry. There may be other ways to do it, but there is no magic to it. Just put the brush in a position that it will dry and the water does rest in the knot. Sideways or upside down. Dont let it sit upright until it dries.

As I said, I've seen very few badgers from major brands at such a low price using pure silver hair which is considered the best if I'm not talking nonsense?
I guess the hand work from Plisson is more qualitative but Muhle must be very satisfying as well.
namely that I can't return after using the badger on this website :/

Or maybe I should also look at Kent... because I saw a silvertip brush at 83euros (the Kent BK4 to be precise), but the handle is made of less noble material, but maybe in return the hand assembly is better than at Muhle who knows, I can't make up my mind....

Have you considered a previously owned brush? . ( ALL Links to Other Sites Removed By Staff ) Sometimes folks buy more than they need. It's just an idea. Sometimes you just have to pull the trigger! I would not look at ebay for a good brush, but that is just my opinion.

No because I often prefer something new (especially for this kind of things).
But why? According to you I can get even better quality badgers than the Muhle model I showed for a similar price by taking second hand (already used) ?

67 replies in. About time to buy something, surely.
Yes, it's just that I'm always trying to find the best quality/price ratio. And so it was to find out if for silvertip hairs around 70/80€ it was a good plan. If it's the case I'm going to stick with this choice, I'll just have to decide on the brand.

It's true that I've had enough answers now to make a choice.

I'm a very indecisive person when it comes to buying an item, I understand that it can annoy some people.

let's not go into a soap discussion next:) Don't know about euros, but I paid $110USD for shavemacs best silvertip in horn and never looked back. The word you are looking for is 'geronimo!'

You Do realize you are WAY overthinking this.....there are Plenty of brushes with great reviews for Very affordable.. Pick one you like .... I understand being nervous about making the wrong choice But if you like the way something looks And you find a synth or badger or boar or horse knot you like it doesnt matter what Any of us think of it because ultimately you are the one using it and not Us
