The scaling of a 8/8 near wedge Koraat

Gentlemen, I'm starting another scale project of a 8/8 near wedge Koraat. There is a probably unknown to you very exclusive knife and straights German maker named Buddel. This artisan maker inspires me a lot of years making scales. His designs are very extravagant. For example see picture. I lent this extravagance for setting up a even more absurd model.
First pic = Buddel

I made these ebony scales and thinned them out to the limit of 3 mm. For strength I applied a very thin lining of aluminum. The totalweight of the scales (2 halves) is 30 grammes. So there might be some disharmony with the mass of the blade. But I did this on purpose to contrast a to make huge white bone wedge, width of 6.5/7 mm to receive the blade.BudK 1.jpgBudK 2.jpg

"Salamander, I quote from your post of 31/8 (The Size of a Razor): "I think part of my mentality that men particularly appear to think big is better. In the US, big pickup trucks, the Gillette “Fat Boy” , fat Monte Blanc pens, big motors , and such. . . . . .

I agree with you. But these are tantalizing things? I feel so?

I'm familiar with White Ebony, but what did Buddel do? He sawed the basis for these scales diagonally from the board! That way working consumes a lot of precious wood. But gorgeous. Next time I'll do it that way, if my stock allows it.

As a junior member I haven't taken cognizance of drmoss' impressive article of May 2020 until now. If I would I would have chosen for another approach. I never met the Buddel steel. His extravagant scale modelling inspires me.

The Gábor Buddel writes: "Bei mir hat das zu dem Wunsch geführt, einmal die Rasur nach alter Vorvätersitte auszuprobieren. Traditionell und stilvoll mit dem klassischen Rasiermesser."

("For me, this led to the desire to try shaving according to the old forefathers' custom. Traditional and stylish with the classic straight razor.")

I sent him a message today inquiring if he's still in straights.

And if so or not . . . I don't know yet but it will "keep me off the street". (Dutch meaning: "I'll work on it!")

I apologize as I didn’t get a notification that you quoted me.

Now don’t think I don’t appreciate those things. Big fat blades, big fat MB pens, large mammillaries…lol!

Perhaps I’m more Bauhaus or function over form. small endowed men produce offspring and small breasts feed babies.

The bass fiddle is big because it’s necessary to function. Whereas big razors are not trunecessary to shave. As I said before, looking a old catalogs, the dominant width was 5/8.

Perhaps the concept of “art for art sake” is important to state. If you like it, that’s all that matters .

Carry on and cheers old boy!!

Sorry admin. Off topic
So, I use a Casio Marlin for its large size so I can assess without glasses.
