Close Out 2019

How will you close out your 2019 shaving year?

Use up old stuff? Try new stuff? New razors? Sell old razors? Expand the shave den? Condense the shave den? Hone up all the old razors? Shave meets?

I think I’m going to go through my soaps, creams and aftershaves and try all the products I haven’t ever used or haven’t used in years just for the fun of it. ?

I’m still working on a New Year’s resolution of getting better with honing razors plus other edged tools. I’d really like to get to the point where I’m competent enough with honing to maintain my small rotation.

Another goal is to not buy any new shaving soaps until I finish off a couple containers currently in the cabinet. This doesn’t apply to a couple of items on my holiday wish list. ?

Is there a Doctor in the house ?
I'm dragging up a razor from the stash in the basement and honing it. Then I attempt to understand as much of the history of its manufacture as I can, take some pics and write about it and the shave I got from it. That gets posted on SMF as an episode in the "An Interesting Razor" series. So far that has led to two unexpected outcomes - I had to buy a new Dremel to restore a C-MON Wedge, and an old Loeffler & Sykes razor has had me entranced for a couple of weeks now. I bought it ~15 years ago but only now do I realise I have ignored a magical blade.
As of two days ago, I am on the list for a bone marrow transplant. I expect there will be a period where there is no beard to shave as all my hair will fall out during the 'conditioning' phase. I daresay there will be no harm from pretending to shave with a straight whilst I have no hair at all.

Best of luck to you on the procedure!!

We will be praying for your rapid return to health.

Thinning out my soap collection, trying to get down to having only one or two at a time. Might try and get rid of some razors as well
