I have a few coticules in my den, and this is one of my favorites. A primitive bout measuring approximately 165 x 80mm. A wild find at a yard sale outside Philadelphia, it is in a true 2x4 case with what I think is a date of 1788 that is barely visible. It is a hard stone that give up a great coti edge with a few drops of oil. I love this rock.

Two flea stone from over the weekend found in the bottom of a box of tools. A 5” green and a 6” pink. The pink must have been a looker at a younger self. I hope it had a good life grinding away at steel. This stone was ridden hard and put up wet. Both sides are worn done and dished. Not much life left in the old rock. I will give it a good life in retirement with its Coti brothers

This one is a looker and a beauty example of what I am guessing is a wavy Old Rock. A seven inch stone that appears beaten up by time but unused with a stamp of a Centaur as the logo. Even though it is scuffed and scratched, has a clean surface, no noticeable pattern. Impressive swooping transition and the surviving logo give this stone a extra helping of personality. I feel very lucky to have score a Coti as good looking as this.

Maurice sent this one to me a long while ago, it's an unusual Les Lat that I refer to as 'painted' instead of 'marbled' - that's just my personal terminology. I've had, literally, scores of the marbled types and this one is a completely different type of beast. I sold it once, then bought it back. LL Boxed Hybrid Open 1.jpg

Two Cotis from the flea market. The mag line was from this morning’s market and the other was from around Christmas. They got a bath and lap today. Both have interesting, busy surfaces and this morning’s is hard, hard, hard. A few adult beverages and some muscle music got it flat.
