Valeriy calls this model "Camisori" - It is a Japanese style straight razor. Traditionally the kamisori do not have scales though some do have them. If you look at mine you can see that it could be used without them.for the uninformed what make it a kamisori and not just a regular straight razor.. also very nice by the way
thank you for the information. i think that more than just myself will benefit from your replyValeriy calls this model "Camisori" - It is a Japanese style straight razor. There are two kinds of kamisori razors - One style is the "traditional" or "Asymmetric" This razor is designed to be used with only one side (Flat side - Omote) always against the face and side with the insignia (Hollow ground side - Ura) facing away from the face. As the asymmetric razor cannot be turned around - it is normally used with one hand only. The other style of Kamisori is a "Western Grind" (like mine) which has a symmetrical grind normally found on US and European razors.
Hope this helps...
It is easier to call such a razor "evro kamissori", this razor is not Japanese, just unusual.
